40″ x 30″, acrylic, framed, SOLD
Smoky Joe Wood was primarily a pitcher when he played for the Boston Red Sox from 1908 to 1915, He is one of my heroes as he was only one of 13 pitchers to win 30 or more games in one season since 1900. He also made his playing debut with the mostly female “Bloomer Girls”. Wood was nicknamed “Smoky” because of his blazing fastball.
This painting of Wood was painted with a Cerulean-blue background and set in a shadow-box, light-coloured wooden frame (included in price).
